• A reel mower uses a cutting action that prevents damage to grass blades. For best results, mow no more than 1/3 of the grass blade to encourage deeper roots. Increase the amount of overlap when mowing tall grass of 4 inches or more. Avoid mowing wet grass with a reel mower, as it can produce an uneven cut.
• Maintenance: Tall grass requires more work with a reel mower, so mow smaller amounts more frequently to prevent long grass. A push mower only cuts what comes between the reel and the cutter bar, so do not allow your lawn to grow much over 3-4 inches for a proper cut.
• Before using your reel mower, remove any lawn debris. Reel mowers work best on well-maintained lawns. If your lawn is overgrown with divots and tall weeds, it is recommended to have the lawn tended to before using a reel mower or be prepared to make multiple passes the first time.
